Swim Video Capture Instructions

Grab your phone or GoPro and get ready to film! If using a phone, either set it to "Slo-Mo" or max out the frames per second (FPS) for best results.

As far as angles, the best case scenario is to grab at least 2 of the 3 views below:

1) From above facing down the lane, capturing you swimming away from, and back at the camera. The camera needs to be elevated at least 2-3 feet above the water - more is better. Often there are starting blocks that you can use to get you in the right ballpark.

2) In the water capturing you swimming at the camera. Think of the above position, only down in the water about 6-12”. I only need to see you swimming at the camera, but you can capture as much swimming as you like.

3) This is the hardest one: underwater from the side (capturing both sides - so on the way down, and on the way back). You can either get a buddy with a long selfie stick, or someone who will film and swim alongside you. Best bet is to try and get your whole body in the frame if possible.

Worst case scenario: I can work with just number 1 from above, but the more angles the better. And if you can capture yourself swimming at different paces/levels of fatigue, that’s the ultimate!
